At Last

The soles of my shoes were laden with mud
One wrong turn turns into a dud
Small chapters of life get dog-eared
Too long of a nap leaves you long beard
Awakened at last, in need of a shave
A fresh start indeed, and send out a wave
That rattles and roars and wakes the night
Our friendly King Lion will kiss and not bite
He's got a flush so he bets you the pot
Don't double down because you ain't got squat
Over the should'ves and through the coulds
Grandma and Grandpa sold their place in the woods
I still see an ember aglow on the hill
Drinks on the house and bring me the bill.

Spells Cast

In the beginning, before things get out of hand
Put on your shoes and get the lay of the land
Let's stay together to increase our chances
Of telling the stories of our past romances
Flings are things we read about in grocery store books
Where nothing is really the way that it looks
The last time I judged a book by its cover
I was found guilty, and so was my lover
Minimal prison time was all that I needed
Rules were obeyed, advice was heeded
Vector control will keep out the Riff Raff
Like a wizard appearing, wielding his staff
Magic spells cast upon our imagination
A yellow brick road to our destination.

Bingo

Bingo.

I dreamt that I was playing bingo
Just trying to fit in, learn the lingo
Wishing that I hadn't sold my car
Thank God we're walking distance to a bar
But we'll have to pay to leave this place
Super hi-tech cameras can detect your face
We'll hop the train and become fugitives
The past always takes while the future gives

Just look out the window at picket fences
Breathe in through your nose to tickle your senses
Then suddenly I was awake in my bed
Dream bubble popped right over my head
But deep in warm covers my eyes close again
Thy love be round me through the night. Amen.

Fur Collars

An Add-On Poem.

The dripping eaves play tricks on my eyes
We've seen it many a time but it's still a surprise
Like hitting a drift that was invisible
But as your friend I would not find that advisable
Nor would I wish you would mess with your mind
Pay attention now here and maybe you'll find
The pieces misplaced under years of debris
Down in the basement making beer from barley
Old men with their tools, tin upon tin
Until strippers showed up stinking of gin
With fingers outstretched, hoping for dollars
Profit will translate into fur collars

We still have our hearts, steadily beating
Like the time our paths crossed at our first meeting
Magnetic attraction swept under the rug
It takes time to feel the effects of the love drug
But now we can weather our future forecast
Bundle up for a blizzard which likely won't be your last
It's a dog-eat-dog world, so carry some bacon
What counts in the end is how much you're makin'
Remember, though, heaven won't take belongings
Use it or lose it, do some writings not wrongings
Stay home, make some soup, and remember the past
May the lines of your life rhyme from first to the last.

Dice Game

Dice Rules & Points: Object of the game is to win. Any number of players take turns throwing six dice. Game is to 10,000 points. You can go over 10,000 points, and want to. Once someone goes out, all others have one chance to tie or win. In order for a player to continue a throwing session, you must throw some sort of points each throw. After each throw, you must set aside at least one dice worth some points. If all the remaining dice thrown are scorers, you have the option of continuing your session by picking them all up and throwing them all again. If none of the dice thrown are scorers, your session ends, and you lose any temporary score that you had built up. Once you've reached the minimum number of points to stop, you may end your session at any time, and your temporary score is added to your permanent score. At the start of the game, the minimum points to just get on the board is 500 points. After that and for the remainder of the game, the minimum score is 350 points per turn.

POINTAGE: A five is 50 points. A one is 100 points. 3-of-a-Kind is worth 100 times the dice value. (3 fives is 500) Exception: 3 ones is worth 1,000 points! 4-of-a-Kind adds another of whatever 3-of-a-Kind is worth. 4 ones is 2,000. 5-of-a-Kind adds two more of whatever 3-of-a-Kind is worth. 5 ones is 3,000. 6-of-a-Kind is an automatic win. Then call to order a large party pizza. Three pair is worth 600 points. Two triples is worth 1,200 points. 1-2-3-4-5-6 is worth 2,000 points. A throw of the dice worth no points is called a Shannon. A six-dice Shannon is worth 1 point. Don't laugh, because you'll probably get the first one.
Example Throws:
5 = 50 points
1 = 100 points
2,2,2 = 200 points
3,3,3 = 300 points
4,4,4 = 400 points
5,5,5 = 500 points
6,6,6 = 600 points
1,1,1 = 1,000 points

Times of Strife

Times Of Strife

By chance do you dance during times of strife
Do you hold out your hand and ask for your wife
Who would have thunk it would have turned out this way
A needle was found in a stack full of hay
Miracles do happen to folks like you and me
But you have to ask Jesus to help you see
Good and Bad are but two sides of the same mirror
It's only a matter of which you hold dearer
Work it out so it works with your neighbors and friends
Watch lots of TV and follow the latest trends
Shop at the biggest mall in the nation
But beware that your brain may experience starvation
I say unto you masses from the top o' the hill
That we are engaged in a battle of will
Leave early on Friday for happy with the salsa and chips
Bring your 3-D glasses to watch the social eclipse
The people around us all energize this moment in time
Like a cuckoo clock ticking awaiting the chime
Time to head home now and crawl into our bed
While visions of Britney Spears lead us to dread
Locks are a safe bet if you're into protection
But our only real chance is a true resurrection.

Light It Up

Express Yourself by adding some special lighting to your place. Here is some lighting on the outside of our CavePort and also on the inside of The Cave.

Let's zoom-in now on the outside lighting and see what that's all about, eh?

Outside our front door, we have a colored bulb in the fixture. Don't forget to add some special lighting to the inside of your FoyerPlace to welcome weary guests.

Finally, for those evenings when the temperature is above minus 10 degrees F, you ought to have some special twinkly lights on your Deckage to compliment the Rising Moon.

The most important rule of adding special lighting to your pad is to remember that these lights are not just for Christmas Time, but rather, they should be enjoyed as Yearound DeLights.
