Rat Pack Week

American Idol Show Notes
Week of April 28-29: Rat Pack Week

Well, it's come down to the Season 8 Five Finalists (Adam, plus the four non-Adams) who are all going to be singing songs from Martin, Davis, and Sinatra. American Idol's Rat Pack of Adam, Allison, Danny, Kris, and Matt will be fighting to get into the Fab Four. Any thoughts on the matter?

Room Snacks

While travelling, we often find ourselves in a hotel room with only a TV remote control and a coffee pot. Today's Travel Tip is to bring your own Room Snacks to make your home away from home more homey.

Here we see a nice variety representing most of the four major snack groups. Notice the clever use of the Aerobies as serving plates. I like to snack, but expecially if I'm at all nervous. Obviously, in this picture taken in Detroit Lakes, I was quite nervous.

Big Deal

Title: BIG DEAL.
When the rain falls hard on the grassy plains
Too much of a good thing can become a big deal
Like gray-haired rock singers' old refrains
If you don't plan your future, stand in line for a meal.
The message I sent in a bottle, now is lost in a sea
There's a river thru my kitchen and sandbags round my bed
How lost can I get before you find me
In a refugee camp with a bandana round my head.
Behind the walls that protect all we love
Mother Nature wreaks havoc to display her power
She teaches us things we have never thought of
Like mixing hot with cold, or sweet with sour.
Fighting like cougars, mostly we are kittens
Biting down trees, dam it up, says the beaver
Our grandmothers made us most of these mittens
While Granpa made moonshine to help with spring fever.
I've entered the tunnel, but see there's a light
Dark times behind us, ahead it's all bright.

Mericano Idolization

American Idol Notes - April 7, 2009er.
Songs from the: Year They Were Born.

Act One
Danny: 1980-Stand By Me. Las Vegas Nightclub version. OK.
Act Two
Chris Allen: 1985-All She Wants To Do Is Dance. Didn't stand out in the performance.
Little Rounds: 1984-What's Luv Gots 2 Do Wits It. Not as good as Tina's version. Backup singer-ish.
Act Three
Anoop: 1986-True Colors. Better than his usual. Liked original way better. Didn't do it for mwah...sorry.
Act Four
Scott - hated it (don't hate him) hate sound of his singing voice (and talking voice) and his looks don't mezmerize me ither. Embarrassing to watch...sorry.
Allison: '92 Bonnie Raitt. Nice choice for her. Really liked it overall. Tender notes sound great. Might even consider purchasing that version.
Act Five
Matt: 1985-Partime Lovers. Pretty darn good. Slower jazzy rock version. More than OK.
Act Six!
Adam will win this competition (now that Alexis Grace got mistakenly booted). Perfect pitch and crazy vocal range. Incredible. Want to hear more.
1st Place: Adam
2nd Place: Allison
3rd Place: Anybody but Scott!
