Sky Fall

Fall Sky
Halfway tween summer & winter
Orange pumpkin sky hovers above
Big treehouse for lucky insiders
Old landmark trees are big providers
More uses than we can think of.

Memorial Day

Remember the ones you loved
Remember the ones that loved you
As they look down from above
Up there in the sky blue

Our Mountain

Good neighbors are worth a lot
Count your blessings for what you got
All on a ship together we ride
North to forever, I'm on your side
Strolling together in any direction
Our hands reach each other for protection
Maintain our mountain to keep it safe
Like Vikings with swords, our hero Leif
He married his queen, mother of five
Their love kept the family more than alive
Every weekend was spent in a state park
The sun through the leaves ignited a spark
Fireside chatting in the moonlight til two
What won't we do? What will we do?

Green Tea Party

Sitting neath a big green tree
Sipping cup of hot green tea
Warm cool tracks to north daylight
Nicely resolve into neutral night

Hallowed Eve

Sleeping in a haunted house
I woke to my pulsating blouse
Hallowed eve of ghostly meetings
Blooshot eyes and creaky greetings
Downstairs spiders catching other bugs
Boogey men hiding under rugs
Trick or Treat me with a scary song
Plagued with nightmares all night long
Witchy concoctions bubbling in a pot
Count up your candy and see what you got.

Brunch For Two

Absolutely perplexed when you
Presented the group your killebrew
Gestational madness flowing thru the room
I felt like a bride just meeting her groom
Even now as we speak forth our minds
Cocooned in our blanket that warms as it binds
Prism rainbows shine through the blinds
I'll follow this path wherever it winds
Brunch for two and coffee to swallow
Caffeine and eggs, with sunset to follow
Preachin on Sunday, teachin on Monday
Everyone waits for the magical "one day"
Every so often is never enough
Besides real love, the rest is just fluff.

You Thought You Thought

All cramped in the corner bundled in twine
A voice in my head said everything's fine
What you thought you thought was anything but
Deciding to move, I built a grass hut
Reduce it all down to a spot on the sand
No TV, no ads, no place for a brand
Wake up tomorrow, enjoy the rest of your days
We're orbiting still, it's only a phase.

Blowing Wild

A windy gust set my mind blowing wild
Ideas were flying into brainstorms high-styled
It was like Lady Gaga had hijacked the air
Take over control of the whole affair
Expecting to influence the whys and the whats
Inspecting in sequence all the opens and shuts
Quite suddenly I knew I was about to slip
Big waves knocked us to the back of the ship
Where a laughing deckhand offered a strange brew
Now we're well-grounded, all is straight and true
Eyes to the horizon behind rose-colored glasses
Time spent with you seems to flow like molasses
A velvety compound we knead into dough
We need to know how big will it grow.

Wealth For Yourself

Wealth For Yourself

What if we did win the big lottery
Our world would explode like an aspen tree
We'd buy a few things but-cha can't buy love
Can't keep it in savings, it hovers above
Buy the Dollar Store and a Wendys too
Investing in futures of me and you
Don't rock the houseboat in Amsterdam
The waves seem real but could be a scam
Trust ye not strangers whom ye know not
Eat only the fishes which you yourself caught
Wealth for yourself can come in numerous ways
No doubt you're a king through another man's gaze
Whether or not Lady Luck taps your shoulder
What matters most is in the eye of the beholder.

So Deep

Title: So Deep

So Deep

Cold is a badger that will not let go
Fright of the bite from which pain will grow
Ice seals us in like a strict quarantine
Sequestered by love for life and caffeine
We pine for the thaw in long underwear
Recline in a chair with never a care
We watch out the window, drifts rise and fall
White waves grow from small to tall
The winter defines us and makes us strong
Windchill will split the right from wrong
That freeze seems so deep, but you are a light
Jacuze in the sun or even better at night
When all those stars wait to be wishes
And all the frogs just wait for some kisses.

Lively Dividends

Add-On Poem by Kit & Johnnny. Title: Lively Dividends. Date Written: November 9, 2009. Copyright © 2009. All rights reserved.{Line 1: Johnnny, Line 2: Kit, and so on and so forth.}

Title: Lively Dividends

Air is thinner the further up the mountain

I raced there with time to spare a drink from the fountain

Drinking while thinking I'll build me a spa

To balance my chi, or wait, is it cha?

Whatever you do, don't lose sight of the top

Tend your seeds well and they'll envy your crop

Cook for a party of domestic animals and friends

The promise exists for quite lively dividends

Invest in your future and blog about the present

Stop watching what Mr. Jones has or hasn't

Anything we do affects all that we do on this earth

And our most loved posessions have no monetary worth.

Take me to the beach
Where Zen is within reach
Everything is here
Which leaves nothing to fear
Write a paragraph, then a book
Tuck it into a secret nook.

Title: Generations of Laze

Do some cooking for friends, unless
You need to go to church and confess
Bad vibes in your life bringing you down
Weighing so heavily like a beaded bridal gown
Get back to the basics and set up your camp
The stars twinkle lightly, the ground cool & damp
Our tent feels like home except for one thing
This emu we found with a wounded wing
Flight's not an option after generations of laze
A species grounded in its evolutional phase
Emu is king of the jungle except for one chap
But Simba is usually taking a nap
Have fun while you can write an add-on poem
Use your young legs and let them go roam
Keep climbing & rhyming exercising your legs & your brain
"I'm lucky to be" should be your refrain
We'll rehearse every verse dealing with something bad
And google diseases that we've never had
Focus on each day as if it's the end of your life
Because it might be, so embrace the strife.

Check Mate

Title: Check Mate
Date Written: September 4, 2009.

{Line 1: Kit, Line 2: Johnnny, and so on and so forth.}

Seven thousand crickets chirped like
Concert fans encore hopeful for
Another chance at the big knockout
Punch your neighbor and kiss your enemies
Until your dry lips whisper "Checkmate"
Take a break, sip some agua fria with Maria
Stoke a giant blaze in the chimenea
Fire is our friend into the dark in the park
Where fireflies light forbidden routes
Follow the fog through the torquoise night
To the place where the bees bring their treasure
Hivey hovey to the Hexagon Queen's court
Sipping our tea, you resemble the sea
Salt to a fault and sugar with honey
Brine of the Gods, our souls marinate
Seasoning spirits with herbs that stop by
Under the cover of a periwinkle sinking sky
Pack up your woolens and bring in the sheep
As the hills roll away and hunker back down
Let's hide in a log with a frog from uptown
You breathe in the smog, I'll deal with the crime
Bottom line is we deal the cards that play
The knight or the bishop...which should I take?
You took my rook - a regrettable mistake.

Title: BIG DEAL.
When the rain falls hard on the grassy plains
Too much of a good thing can become a big deal
Like gray-haired rock singers' old refrains
If you don't plan your future, stand in line for a meal.
The message I sent in a bottle, now is lost in a sea
There's a river thru my kitchen and sandbags round my bed
How lost can I get before you find me
In a refugee camp with a bandana round my head.
Behind the walls that protect all we love
Mother Nature wreaks havoc to display her power
She teaches us things we have never thought of
Like mixing hot with cold, or sweet with sour.
Fighting like cougars, mostly we are kittens
Biting down trees, dam it up, says the beaver
Our grandmothers made us most of these mittens
While Granpa made moonshine to help with spring fever.
I've entered the tunnel, but see there's a light
Dark times behind us, ahead it's all bright.

Title: Simple Delight.

The cheese melted quickly, like
Warming glaciers wet in the sun
Blinding, I was a deer in the headlights
Can't see between the lines on your face
Like old lace, they embrace your fast pace
Hug my brain to shock some ideas out

From beneath the cobwebs' sticky grip
Kiss the spider woman as she spins me
I am a package in her cluttered warehouse
Box me up, don't bring us down around
Bonfires in backyards where leaves flutter
Picture yourself on a path leading to
Chinese wisdom and peacepipes shared
Amongst strangers in the night, no fright
Just a simple delight, like knowing you're right
No regrets in the end. Balance your life
On a solid gold scale, dipping and teetering
What's the point, if we can't have a little fun.

Budget Inn Express

{Line 1: Johnnny, Line 2: Kitz, and so on and so forth.}

I knew when we checked in
I'd be glad to check out again
Quite frankly, after a long drive
The car tried to steer away from that dive
After a couple beers or more
Our expectations flew right out the door
Expedia.com didn't show a picture of this place
So Johnnny felt like he had egg on his face
Wait for the pending busload of bums
To pick over the remaining slums
Room 149
It wasn't divine
Til Morgan showed up with his rums.

Title: Christmas Interruptis.

Wandering aimlessly, lost in a field
I couldn't remember if your letter was sealed
A wave of emotion surged through my torso
The King wanted less, but the Queen thought more-so
Mockingbirds sang to the light in the east
While turkeys were roasting, for the big feast
Abruptly aborted, the plan was not hatched
Christmas Interruptis, the ball was not catched
The Queen, in a rage, ate a platefull of cheese
While mice in the den put on the squeeze
Chaos did erupt, like volcanoes on crack
Yearning and burning, I'll give it a smack
Intensely deficient, we searched endlessly
Using some scotch and some gin, and mixing blendlessly
The edges came loose, the seams pulled away
My clothes don't fit me, too much sorbet
"Hey man, take a left, there's a cop on the right"
So, stay out of jail, and to all, a good night!

Sum of the Parts.

I tied my shoes and set out on my way
On the surface, it seemed like any other day
Until I discovered the maze I was in
Bodies that once seemed fat, now a bit thin
Without a clock we waited for the sun
Everyone agrees that it's time for some fun
So let down your hair and shake it up
Share the same bed at night and in the morn the same cup
When two become one it's something real
Equations aren't always something you feel
How can you predict the sum of the parts
Perhaps you'd like to join the Queen for some tarts
Her minstels' notes floating through the air
It's all ferris wheel music at the County Fair.

Jetsam and Flotsam

An Add-On Adventure by Kit & Johnnny.
Title: Jetsam and Flotsam.
Date: February 4, 2009.

Snick snack paddy wack, give your dog a bone from the body that's been stuck under your bungalow mansion built on a gold mine near the scene that was thrown by your crazy uncle. He was the first person to show why we ought not attempt to walk on coals when s'mores are roasting.
More or less you do what you got a mind of your own to get done, like collecting Marie Osmond dolls or signing up for every medical research lab you can until the pressure floors you and birds make nests in places we didn't know existed. It's almost time to plan your funeral, so pick a coffin with stereo. In one ear and out your mother's brother. Why is there a poker in my eye that burns like a stomach ache begotten of spices from India ground by Gandhi in an alley full of giants rats.
Sororities and frats know the meaning of party. They found the definition on a bathroom wall. Don't be ascared of the person in the closet who knows all your secrets like a fly on cow dung. The meaning of life for you, as a person, is questionable; a theory that needs to be peeled through by layers. Onions and opinions, everyone gots 'em, jetsam and flotsam, afloat in a muddied stream of consciousness. Think of now as the perfect time for a long, cool drink from the fountain of wisdom. Wise up. Think straight. Act like a tiger just about to pounce on the world with giant paws.
