Motown Week
(In order of performance - with overall "Grade")
Matt G: A Awesome performance, started on piano, a front runner.
Kris A: B+ Nice sound & performance, too repetitive, narrow range.
Scottsdale: F Please leave to put me out of my misery. Please.
Megan: D Sounded terrible, doesn't move well, sucked overall.
Anoop: D Too slow, lame, pitchy falsetto, not good dood.
Mike S: C- OK but below par, not a winner, lounge act feel.
Lil Rounds: C- Weird hair, yelling, did not meet expectations.
Adam: A+ Wow! Could have won the whole thing with this performance! Looked like Kurt Russell with the Elvis hairdo. Incredible vocal range. Best performance of season 8.
Danny G: B+ OK but nothing special, seemed too rushed.
Allison: A- Great song choice to show off her pipes, not real likeable.

Happy Saint Patricia's Day

For the Top Eleven Big Show, here is a little different format for the show notes. Jumping right into the Conclusion Phase which is sprinkled with some details.

Those singers who could all be immediately flushed from the finalists:

Michael Sarver: Showed he can memorize well, but lacking any star quality.
Allison Irahetta: Strainy sound of her voice is irritating plus looks freakish.
Scott from Scottsdale: End of the road time for a nice guy but not going to win.
Adam Ant Iguana Boy George: If it's a love/hate thing, then sorry, but a slow weird evil Egyptian version of Ring of Fire is not going to be on a CD under my Christmas Tree.

Either great performances tonight, or have enough to be in smaller subset of finalists:

Kris Allen: Really sounded good with a slower ballet. Sang well in what IS a singing competition.
Little Rounds: Country music not her thang but did well enough to still impress.
Alexis Grace: Song choice (Jolene) was poor but still a strong favorite from this perspective.
Daniel Go-Key: Strong great emotional performance. He still has it and affects the listener.
Anooooop: Biggest surprise of the eve. Deserves to be in final smaller group.
Megan Joy: Nice retro look and feel. For being quite sick, she deserves to go on.
Matt Giraud: Following four strong performance, he definitely made it five strong performances.

The cheese melted quickly, like
Warming glaciers wet in the sun
Blinding, I was a deer in the headlights
Can't see between the lines on your face
Like old lace, they embrace your fast pace

Wandering aimlessly, lost in a field
I couldn't remember if your letter was sealed
A wave of emotion surged through my torso
The King wanted less, but the Queen thought more-so
Mockingbirds sang to the light in the east
While turkeys were roasting, for the big feast
Abruptly aborted, the plan was not hatched
Christmas Interruptis, the ball was not catched
The Queen, in a rage, ate a platefull of cheese
While mice in the den put on the squeeze
Chaos did erupt, like volcanoes on crack
Yearning and burning, I'll give it a smack
Intensely deficient, we searched endlessly
Using some scotch and some gin, and mixing blendlessly
The edges came loose, the seams pulled away
My clothes don't fit me, too much sorbet
"Hey man, take a left, there's a cop on the right"
So, stay out of jail, and to all, a good night!

Sum of the Parts.

I tied my shoes and set out on my way
On the surface, it seemed like any other day
Until I discovered the maze I was in
Bodies that once seemed fat, now a bit thin
Without a clock we waited for the sun
Everyone agrees that it's time for some fun
So let down your hair and shake it up
Share the same bed at night and in the morn the same cup
When two become one it's something real
Equations aren't always something you feel
How can you predict the sum of the parts
Perhaps you'd like to join the Queen for some tarts
Her minstels' notes floating through the air
It's all ferris wheel music at the County Fair.

Snick snack paddy wack, give your dog a bone from the body that's been stuck under your bungalow mansion built on a gold mine near the scene that was thrown by your crazy uncle. He was the first person to show why we ought not attempt to walk on coals when s'mores are roasting. More or less you do what you got a mind of your own to get done, like collecting Marie Osmond dolls or signing up for every medical research lab you can until the pressure floors you and birds make nests in places we didn't know existed. It's almost time to plan your funeral, so pick a coffin with stereo. In one ear and out your mother's brother. Why is there a poker in my eye that burns like a stomach ache begotten of spices from India ground by Gandhi in an alley full of giants rats.
Sororities and frats know the meaning of party. They found the definition on a bathroom wall. Don't be ascared of the person in the closet who knows all your secrets like a fly on cow dung. The meaning of life for you, as a person, is questionable; a theory that needs to be peeled through by layers. Onions and opinions, everyone gots 'em, jetsam and flotsam, afloat in a muddied stream of consciousness. Think of now as the perfect time for a long, cool drink from the fountain of wisdom. Wise up. Think straight. Act like a tiger just about to pounce on the world with giant paws.
