First Robin

First robin sighting in Fargo: March 18, 2012
In 2011, we saw our first robin on March 27. This year, a flock of robins showed up on Sunday, March 18. They easily blew into town on a strong southernly wind, while temperatures neared 80 degrees F. With the muggy humidity, unusual warmth, outdoor grilling, and chirping robins, March 18 felt more like May 18. Instead of moving our clocks ahead one hour for Daylight Savings Time, it's like we moved our calendars ahead 2 months.

Fall is Falling

Reflecting back on our summer
Autumn must be around the corner, because Fall is starting to fall. Our neighbors' leaves are beginning to blow into our yard (as our leaves are blowing into the neighboring yards). The Minnesota ViQueens have already lost their opening game to the Chargers. Geese are zipping up their down jackets. Jack Frost has even stopped by for a short early-morn visit, a few daze ago. All these signs are a good indication that just around the corner, it is going to be: Spring (in the southern hemisphere)!

Butterfly Flutter By

This was one of our fluttering friends during this past summer. T'was a great summer for flowers, bees, gardens, and butterflies. This dude (whom we named Thorax) liked our backyard blend of blossoms. Here he's pictured sitting upon his favorite pincushion. The verbena were also a very popular spot. Then one day, they all just up and left town. I wonder where Thor is now. If you happen to see him, greet him from us.

Frostily Foggy

Kit took a picture of our front Maple Tree today. Dense fog made for some beautiful branches. It was frostily foggy. This is how our tree looks in the Winter.

This is how the same tree looked last summer.
